Level 4

To achieve a level 4.

To achieve a level 4 in my print brief I will need to:

  • Framing a shot, including and excluding elements as appropriate.
  • Using different shots such as long shot, mid shot and close up.
  • Shoot images that are appropriate to the task.
  • Using mise-en-scene including colour, figure, lighting, props and setting.
  • Photos that are appropriate to text will need to be edited, this should include resizing and cropping.
  • Appropriate language and register.
  • Correct integrating illustration and text.
  • Using the correct conventions for layout and page design to show you understand.
  • Use variety of text sizes and fonts.
  • For the task set show appropriate ICT skills for the task.

What have they done well?
The colour scheme for both magazines I feel are both very good. This is because they work well together and stand out to catch the audience attention. The colours they have used are bright so the magazine does not look dull. Another thing that have done well is that they have followed the conventions of the layout. They have done this by having all of the titles are the top of the page. They have followed this as then you can notice the title of the magazine first. Also they have made sure that the main article is the article that stands out the most this is so the audience notice what the main article is going to be about. They have both used a variety of shots. They have both used close ups on there front page, this is so the images stands out and will catch the audience attention. They have both used mid shots on the article pages. This shows that they both can use a variety of shots. The images they use are appropriate to the text, they have both got some text and then the image is of the artist the text is about. Another thing they have done well is by using a variety of text sizes a fonts. The titles are all mush larger than other text sizes in the magazine. This is also a conventions so that the audience can notice. They have also used a variety of fonts.  They have done this well because most of the fonts are different but they all fit in well together so that the page does not look to full. You can also tell they have edited they photos, this shows that have skills in editing images. Also the second magazine has showed they have resized and on the contents page it have a mini version of the front page, this shows skills in resizing.

What could they improve on?
I feel they both could improve by adding more cover lines. They both only used 2 or 3. I feel by adding more cover lines it will attract the audience in more as then it is teasing them what is inside the magazine.

Do I think I will achieve a level 4?
I think I will achieve a level four as I am going to use a variety of images. I have decided to do this as this will show my skills in photography. Also it will make the magazine looked more effective so the audience will be attracted to it. The colour scheme I am going to use is very effective also as it attracts both genders as this is my target audience. Also it is different from other music magazine on the market. My photos will also be appropriate to the text as I am going to do an interview for a new artist and my image is going to be of my artist this makes my image relevant to my text. I will also edit my images resizing and cropping them. I may also make my photo look more effective so that it will attract my audience. I will also follow the conventions of layout and page design. This is so it will attract my audience instead of looking to much by being to unique. The questions I am planning to write in my interview are appropriate and are in the correct register which will appeal to my target audience.
